Please see below to learn more, contact us, or ask your therapist for more information at your next session.
DINNER CLUB
Dinner Club is a weekly group for children aged 4 to 7 years that addresses:
Picky eating
-
We create a low pressure environment and encourage interactions with the food using any of the senses to build familiarity. We start with familiar, ‘safe’ foods, then work to introduce new ones. Via play-based learning, the children participate in sensory “experiments" to discover food preferences.
Interoception
-
Children who struggle to recognize body signals may not seek food/drink, overeat, or have difficulty identifying and/or expressing feelings related to food and mealtimes. We work to help children become more aware of their body signals and learn to label them so they can express their wants/needs.
Social skills and table manners
-
Children in our group learn and practice social skills and table manners in a fun environment, while also following mealtime routines.
Parents of previous attendees reported improvements in their children's:
-
Openness to exploring new foods
-
Participation during meal time
-
Ability to identify and express feelings around foods and meals!
...And the children were excited about returning for more sessions!
We can accommodate all food restrictions including food allergies, religious commitments and gluten/casein sensitivities.
